Life is nothing without celebration. In fact, life without celebration would be a torture, for no one cannot live like a robot. Celebrations also give one a break from the routine life as well as provide one the opportunity to spend some time with near and dear ones. It goes a long way in pepping one up and gearing him for the battle that lie ahead. However, one must understand that celebration without a cake can be an insipid affair. The value of celebration cakes thus can not be negated.

Every occasion has a customary cake prepared for it. If the occasion happens to be that of a child’s birthday who is a very keen football fan than the best thing to do would be to prepare the cake in the shape of a football. Similarly, if the occasion is to celebrate the birthday of a girl who has turned sixteen then it indeed would be a great idea to get the cake prepared in the shape of 16. And if the occasion is to celebrate the birthday of a kid who is a skating fan then it indeed would be a good idea to get the skating ring engraved on the cake.

Fathers Day celebrations have gained immense popularity across the globe. No one, who loves one’s father immensely and selflessly, would let Fathers Day go by. Each one of us wants to make an effort on this day to let the special person know, ‘how much he is cared for, loved and needed’. This is the very reason why, and it is fast catching up with Valentine’s Day and Halloween. However, though it is by now a global festival, interestingly enough, Fathers Day across the globe is celebrated at different times of the year in different countries.

Fathers Day is celebrated on more than nineteen different days of the year. While the Fathers Day celebrations take place in Germany on Ascension Day, it is celebrated on the last Sunday of September in Australia and New Zealand. Austria, Ecuador, Belgium usually celebrates Fathers Day on the second Sunday of June. The second Sunday of August brings Fathers Day for Brazil and the second Sunday of July is Fathers Day in Uruguay.

The day most widely chosen by a number of people, remains to be the third Sunday of June. In 2008 Father’s Day falls on the 15 June. Among the countries celebrating this day are USA, Switzerland, France, UK, Greece, India, Argentina, Cuba, Malaysia, and more. As in all other years, Fathers Day 2008 will also be held at different times of the year across the other parts of the globe. Yes, we did post a few fake news on April 1st. We hope they were thoroughly enjoyed, and taken for what they were – April Fools’ hoaxes. Here they are, from lowest to highest, based on the number of times they were read:

Number Four: A Chinese company received FDA approval to market dog meat steaks in the United States. Number Three: The White House purchased two digital toilets, which double as weight scales and health testers, and include video games and a direct line to the Pentagon. Number Two The first computer virus that’s transmissible to humans via cell phones and MP3 players has been released in South East Asia. Number One: LCD monitors work “both ways” and function as video cameras, recording what people do in front of their computers.

We hope you enjoyed them, and that no one took them seriously. We’d hate to hear that someone actually stuck his or her head in the refrigerator to get rid of the “computer virus” – a software program with a few lines of code – supposedly transmissible to humans. Or that anyone pulled a nylon over his or her computer display to prevent it from recording images in the room.
